Condition Assessment of Transformers and Switchyards Using DGA and Thermography: A Case Study of DVC Power Plant
Le résumé fourni par la source
Transformers and switchyard play a critical role in the efficient and safe operation of electrical power systems. Ensuring their reliability and longevity is essential for the continuous supply of electricity. Condition assessment techniques such as Dissolved Gas Analysis (DGA) and Thermography have emerged as indispensable tools in detecting and diagnosing potential faults in transformers and switchyard/sub-station. This paper explores the principles, methodologies, and applications of DGA and Thermography, highlighting their integration for comprehensive condition assessment. By combining these techniques, utilities and operators can achieve a holistic understanding of asset health, enabling proactive maintenance strategies and minimizing the risk of unexpected failures. Two case studies are highlighted in this paper. First case study deals with the DGA data and its interpretation for Generator Transformer (GT) having capacity 3×200MVA for 500 MW thermal plant in DVC Durgapur Steel Thermal Power Station (DSTPS). Second case study presents the thermography of the switchyard equipment of DVC DSTPS plant.
