Liver Transplantation Using Normothermic Regional Perfusion - A Single Center Experience

The need for liver transplantation continues to outpace the availability of donors in the United States. Increased utilization of livers from donation after circulatory death(DCD) has helped reduce this deficit. Reports on the use of in situ normothermic regional perfusion for DCD donors have shown increased liver allograft utilization with decreased rates of ischemic cholangiopathy(IC) and primary nonfunction(PNF) compared to standard rapid recovery (SRR). We report our single center experience following adaption of NRP as the preferred recovery technique from DCD donors from February, 2023 to May, 2024.
