In the current era, there is a sudden improvement in the healthcare technology sector that is trending to revolutionize our healthcare industry, which is to adopt technological changes in the technology realm to manage healthcare-related data and regularize patient data in a proper format with the treatment summary. This research focuses on a case study on cyberattacks in healthcare organizations by the notorious robots called botnets. How these botnets target healthcare organizations with their attacking strategies and their evolution in architecture is analysed in this research. The reason behind many recent cyberattacks in the healthcare industry is botnets performing various types of attacks, such as financial fraud, phishing, encrypted patient data using ransomware, and breakdowns in healthcare services. The recent news provides insight into the change in architecture of botnets from command-and-control architecture to peer-to-peer networks, where numerous masters were taken down. This kind of botnet is a very tedious process. Here, we analyse the change in structure of botnets and their attacks in healthcare organizations in real time as a research case study to know more about attacks processed by the botnet and how to safeguard healthcare-related data. After a thorough analysis of botnets in the healthcare sector, the case study concludes on how to increase privacy regulation and mitigation processes over botnets to safeguard patient records and healthcare organizations’ recent records storage using high-standard cryptographic functions against botnets.
