FOG Computing and Blockchain-Supported Identity Management for IoMT

In the social environment, the healthcare sector domain is an important and booming area of research for technical as well as medical personnel. Related to the types of personnel engaged, automation need supports and co-ordination and there is a raised need of skilled personal. The Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) can be considered as an important area of research in the healthcare domain nowadays to improve the reachability of healthcare services quickly and to the doorstep. The IoMT field is about connecting IoT medical devices, collecting, transmitting, and sharing healthcare data over internet infrastructure. Related to IoMT, identity management, fog computing (FC), and blockchain are converging in the constantly changing world of healthcare technology. To enable real-time data analysis and lower latency, fog computing, an edge computing (EC) concept, moves computing and data processing closer to IoMT devices. For managing identities and access permissions, blockchain technology, which is renowned for its security and transparency, provides a decentralized and irreversible ledger. This chapter gives a thorough analysis of the IoMT components and collected data, with a focus on identity management using fog computing and blockchain. The way these two technologies, blockchain and fog computing, may provide the IoMT and identity management ecosystem within the healthcare industry is explored, and sheds light on challenges in terms of devices to give personalized data collection, analysis, and exchange among devices in IoMT. The critical issues that must be considered are equipment communication, development of frameworks and devices and data security to help the healthcare field to progress towards cost-effective and enhanced quality of treatment. The proposed system suggests an experiment using blockchain and FOG computing technologies to support, in related critical issues, targeting more personalized systems, and their future challenges.
