Le résumé fourni par la source
Associated with the Brazilian aging population, an increase in health issues among the elderly is expected.Understanding disease prevalence is essential for health service planning, including human resources, diagnostics, and treatments.Chondrocalcinosis, the radiographic marker of calcium pyrophosphate deposition disease (CPPD), may either be associated with clinical forms of CPPD or appear as an isolated finding without symptoms.CPPD is associated with aging, predominantly affecting those over 60, with prevalence estimates between 1.5 and 10.4%, varying by population. In Brazil, no studies have assessed the prevalence of knee chondrocalcinosis. The Longitudinal Study of Adult Health -Musculoskeletal (ELSA-Brasil MSK) includes knee radiographs, enabling the estimation of chondrocalcinosis prevalence in a non-clinical population, considering sociodemographic factors and chronic diseases/conditions.
