Research progress of glass scintillators with high density and high light yield
Résumé fourni par la source
Glass scintillators (GS), with their tunable composition, large-scale fabrication capabilities, and cost-effectiveness, have emerged as a novel choice for solid scintillation materials. The density of glasses can close to those of scintillation crystals (~6g/cm3) at a lower cost, making it the preferred light-emitting device for scintillation detectors. Since 2021, the High-Density Glass Scintillator Collaboration Group (GS group) has been working on the development of large-sized, high-density (~6g/cm3), high light output (>1000 ph/MeV), fast decay (<300 ns), and radiation-resistant glass scintillators. These scintillators are being considered for potential use in future high energy physics experiments, such as the Glass Scintillator Hadron Calorimeter (GS-HCAL) for the Circular Electron Positron Collider (CEPC) and the Future Circular Collider (FCC). Significant progress has been made in achieving the above objectives, with substantial breakthroughs in light yield performance.
