Abstract With the PRIS-Tool we aim to enable a fast, simple and stable eye self-screening that makes pathological changes in the retinal blood vessels visible to the patient. Furthermore, we envision its application as a quick retinal function test prior to cataract surgeries in low-income regions of the world. Our pocket-sized PRIS-Tool allows for a simplified entoptic testing, due to its integrated light stimulation. PRIS stands for Purkinje Retinal Image Stabilizer. So far, we have built 12 devices in small series and distributed them in our PRIS clinical research network to discuss potential clinical applications. An assisting app will support patients in performing a reliable self-diagnosis and documenting the progress of the disease. Future work will focus on app development and the initiation and evaluation of user studies.
