Le résumé fourni par la source
Traditional bioseparation techniques such as chromatography and ultrafiltration often face limitations in terms of cost, time, and product purity. Functionalized magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) are a promising alternative due to their unique magnetic properties. These nanoparticles possess a small size, high surface area, and tunable surface chemistry, which allows for the specific targeting of biomolecules through surface modifications. MNPs can achieve efficient electrostatic or site-specific interactions with proteins, nucleic acids, and other biomolecules of interest by incorporating cationic/anionic polymers or receptor-specific ligands. Additionally, manipulating the hydrophilic/hydrophobic balance using surfactants further enhances the attachment of target biomolecules to the MNP surface. This tailored interaction allows the isolation and purification of biomolecules using an external magnetic field, leading to a simpler and more efficient downstream processing step. Consequently, functionalized MNPs are emerging as powerful tools to revolutionize bioseparation in various applications, including disease diagnosis, therapy, and the isolation of bacteria, cancerous cells, and drugs for theranostic purposes.
