Late Breaking Abstract - Assessing the Clinical Benefit, Safety, and Patient-reported Outcomes with the Use of the PAHcare™ Digital Platform in Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension: A Pilot Study.
Résumé fourni par la source
Background: There are no studies on the application of digital medical products for self-care for PAH patients. PAHcare is a digital support platform with educational information. Methods: Prospective, multicentric study, with the primary outcome of evaluating PAHcare on health-related quality of life (HRQoL). Secondary outcome included disease progression, the 6-min walking test, and the patient's symptom perception. Additionally, we assessed patient satisfaction and engagement with the PAHcare™, costs, healthcare resource utilisation (HCRU), and safety. Results: Platform was evaluated in 53 patients for 6 months. Minimal, non-significant changes were observed in HRQOL and other clinical parameters. During the first month, 92% of patients used the application, and made a total of 2,912 interactions, and after 6 months, 70 % were still using it. 45% of patients completed the first level of structured training. In the first week, 76% contacted their healthcare advisor, and at the end of the study, 28% maintained contact. On average, they made almost 8 contacts per patient. 92% of patients were quite (29%) or very satisfied with the platform (63%), 68% rated the quality of service as excellent. In terms of HCRU and costs, the study showed no significant changes in PAH-related hospital admissions, clinical visits, or tests. Five patients (11%) reported PAHcare incidents, none of which were serious. Conclusions: This study offers strong evidence that the PAHcare™ digital platform is feasible and well-accepted by patients, empowering them to manage their condition and greatly improving their overall experience with PAH.
