Le résumé fourni par la source
Wounds are a significant healthcare issue affecting millions of people globally. Effective wound management is challenging due to the complications involved in the healing process. Biopolymers, which are naturally sourced biomolecules derived from plants, microbes, and animals, exhibit a high level of biocompatibility. The bioactive characteristics of these polymers include immune-modulatory, antimicrobial, angiogenic, and cell-proliferative qualities, providing an optimal environment for wound healing. In addition to traditional wound care methods, biopolymers are becoming an integral component in wound treatment due to excellent biodegradability, high biocompatibility, and similarity to macromolecules in the human body. This chapter discusses the wound healing process, treatment methods, assessment principles, and the use of biopolymers, such as alginate, chitosan, cellulose, collagen, and hyaluronic acid, in wound healing materials.
