Le résumé fourni par la source
The global prevalence of soil contamination is a serious environmental concern. Phytotechnologies have claimed widespread acclaim for recovering and rehabilitating contaminated lands for their effective and sustainable use. Recent years have seen a surge in numerous studies investigating the phytoremediation potential of aromatic grasses, and perennial herbs belonging to the Poaceae family (Vetiver, Lemongrass, Citronella, Palmarosa, and Sweetgrass). These grasses are characterized by huge biomass development, invasive nature, and resilience to diverse soil stressors and pollutants with significant detoxification potential. This chapter presents a comprehensive approach to addressing the challenges associated with the remediation of polluted land using aromatic grass-based phytoremediation and essential oil production as a low-risk strategy for remediating polluted sites. The most recent findings on the phytoremediation capabilities of aromatic grasses are presented in this chapter.
