The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on surgical training, superimposed on European Working Time Directive rotas, presents a challenge for surgical trainees obtaining their Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) to gain sufficient experience to confidently commence consultancy. The aim of this study was to obtain a nationwide snapshot of new-starter National Health Service (NHS) urology consultants’ personal experience of the mentoring they received for operative and non-operative aspects of their new job, and whether they would support implementing a formalised national mentorship programme for new-starter urologists.
