Drug utilization research (DUR) intends to support health authorities in the development of evidence-informed pharmaceutical policy and practice guidelines, with the interest of the patients and communities in mind. DUR data is often challenging to access for researchers, in particular in resource-restricted settings. The European Drug Utilization Research Group (EuroDURG) community initiated an action to increase access to DUR data during the EuroDURG Conference in Glasgow in November 2017. A first version of the declaration was proposed to the participants of the conference with the invitation to subscribe to the declaration on a web-based platform. The declaration is available on the International Society of Pharmacoepidemiology website and distributed to international and national organizations involved in the health care of patients at the global or national level seeking further endorsement. Additionally, the declaration is being disseminated using social media techniques with a call for subscribing to the declaration on an individual basis.
