CURRENT SITUATION WITH AVIAN INFLUENZA, ASSESSMENT OF RISKS FOR TRANSMISSION AND SPREAD IN THE REPUBLIC OF BELARUS

The article presents the current situation with avian influenza, showing the global spread of this disease, a high degree of morbidity and mortality not only among poultry and wild birds, but also among various species of wild and domestic, aquatic and terrestrial mammals. Increasing cases of disease among the population caused by both highly pathogenic and low pathogenic strains of the avian influenza virus have been described. An analysis and assessment of the importance of wild fauna in the spread of the avian influenza pathogen was carried out, and the level of risk for introduction and spread of avian influenza in the territory of the Republic of Belarus was assessed.
