An Introduction to Fundamentals of Cancer Cell Biology

The word “cancer” defines a subset of the global deadliest and commonly identified pathological diseases. Though our comprehension has advanced significantly in understanding the biology of cancer since the second part of the twentieth century, numerous questions remain unanswered concerning the intricate cellular and molecular pathology of this disease. Unchecked cell division and malfunctioning processes of replicative senescence are typically indicative of this disease. Every phase of the cell cycle is distinctively regulated by a complicated network of cyclins and cyclin-dependent kinases signaling pathways. The cell’s DNA integrity is essentially examined at each of these checkpoints. Genetic defects detected in these molecules are distinctive characteristics of cancerous cells. Cancer cells undergo a multiplex process known as metastatic conversion, which involves interaction with TME (tumor microenvironment) and EMT (epithelial–mesenchymal transition), through cytoskeleton remodeling. Long noncoding ribonucleic acids have been related to the metastasis process of cancer cells through a variety of methods of action. The fight against cancer remains far from across; therefore, oncology biomedical research needs to keep on being a top focus on a global scale. In a similar manner, there is a need to improve preventive measures and reduce unequal access to healthcare, especially in countries that score poorly on human development indices. This review presents a fundamental knowledge of the intratumoral heterogeneity models that promote the resistance to anticancer treatments as well as the molecular genesis of cancer.
