Waste to Wealth from Forests: Perspective and Constraints
Le résumé fourni par la source
Forests play a crucial role as a valuable resource; however, conventional methods often result in substantial waste. This waste from forestry operations has the potential to be transformed into various products, thereby adding extra value. The manufacturing of charcoal and briquettes from forest tree waste, including plant debris, plant parts, and tree bark, has a significant potential for adding value to wood fuel. Such biomass is used to make charcoal and briquettes, which are effective for cooking and ironing in urban and periurban areas. Additionally, forest waste can be used to make agarbatti, prepare bamboo and wooden decorates, and produce biofuel, essential oils, and other value-added products. Hence, natural forests would be preserved by using biomass waste as a substrate to produce value-added products from waste. Hence in this chapter, we discussed various possibilities to convert waste resources from forest and wood industries into value-added products viz ., 284 agarbatti preparation and its utility, charcoal and its utility, wooden decorate and its utility, biofuel productions and its utility, essential oil extraction and its utility, fuel from bark and its utility, to generate wealth from waste.
