Plants, fungi, and animals that have been collected from the forest have, for a very long time, been a source of sustenance, health, financial worth, and cultural significance. The production of industrial wood has historically been the most important aspect of “forest management” across the world. The production of food based on forest resources is not even a secondary factor; rather, it is an everyday occurrence that is not considered in official statistics. For a great number of people, the presence of forests guarantees a reliable source of vital foods and nutrients. People who search for food in the woods have access to a variety of advantages, including those in the fields of culture and recreation, as well as the kitchen. Customers have a growing perception that these products are more “natural” and healthier than food that is produced using agricultural practices. The ever-increasing 60 demand for “natural” food production has led to an increase in the number of multibillion-dollar firms that make extensive use of resources derived from forests and wild areas as essential components. According to consumer trends, the practice of harvesting food from forests, which involves biological processes and new sorts of culturally ingrained ties with the natural world, is becoming an increasingly popular pastime among consumers. There is also a growing demand for agricultural output to be “re-oriented,” which presents an opportunity to strengthen the roles that forests and trees play in food production and to rethink how food systems are organized. Through the utilization of a wide variety of plants, such as the baobab, forests, and trees may be able to provide food security and nourishment to people. The following diagram illustrates how woodlands and trees can be incorporated into everyday life. It is feasible to expand food systems and transition to a bio-economy through the utilization of the new opportunities presented by forests and trees, in addition to the challenges that these factors present. This transformation is important to meet the growing demand for food that is both safe and nutritious while also maintaining the biodiversity of the forest.
