Comparison of the Effects of Domestic and International Pore-Covering Primers Using Digital Imaging

This study included five representative pore-concealing primer cosmetics available on domestic and international markets to evaluate their safety and pore-concealing efficacy. Thirty participants in their 20s and 30s from Korean were enrolled. Safety assessments included skin irritation tests and human repeated insult patch tests. Pore-concealing efficacy was evaluated using digital imaging system (Visio FaceⓇ100D). As a result, no skin reactions from the participants were observed in the groups of five representative pore-concealing primer cosmetics. It was ensuring that they were safe for use on the skin. It showed that the pore-concealing effect of A company’s cosmetic is excellent after application evaluated by Visio FaceⓇ100D system and this difference was statistically significant. Digital image analysis is primarily used in skincare measurements as an objective and accurate assessment method, commonly applied in cosmetics efficacy evaluations. This study objectively demonstrated that pore primers have a temporary effect on filling pores. Furthermore, all pore primers tested in this experiment were confirmed to be safe for use. Future developments in pore primer products should consider integrating a cosmeceutical approach aimed at improving skin quality and reducing pore size, beyond mere pore concealing functionalities.
