Le résumé fourni par la source
The development of chirped-pulse amplification (CPA) technology has led to a continuous increase in the output power of lasers, and the nonlinear effects of lasers in media have become more prominent for the study of light-matter interaction. Twenty years ago, high intensity terahertz waves were obtained by ionizing gas molecules in the air. It is difficult to amplify to higher energies because crystals are easily damaged by the high-field of laser pulses. However, laser-prepared air-plasma can withstand extremely high-energy input laser and overcome the damage threshold of crystals. Now, we have found through our research that air plasma is not only an excellent source for terahertz radiation, but also can be used as a perfect nonlinear material. Therefore, we can utilize the air-plasmas as an ideal material to realize the amplify and modulate of THz waves.
