The perception of beauty and make-up is as old as mankind and civilization. Natural cosmetics are beauty products which retain necessary physiological activity such as therapeutic properties, smoothing appearance, enhancing and conditioning properties, purity and safety because of natural constituents and relatively minor or zero side effects because of synthetic drugs. Natural and organic cosmetics are widely used. While purchasing cosmetics, apart from beauty, a growing number of consumers try to find ecofriendly, sustainable and ethical cosmetics. Natural and organic cosmetics have these features andare therefore an authentic way of benefiting mankind and also protecting the environment and biodiversity. In this chapter, we have discussed various active ingredients, natural preservatives, and biodegradable and biocompatible surfactants and their formulation for natural and organic cosmetics.
