Adsorbent Materials
Le résumé fourni par la source
Adsorption is a process which is associated with the accumulation of liquid or gas on the surface of solid adsorbents. It is an efficacious and highly effective method in terms of cost for the removal of hazardous/carcinogenic contaminants. Adsorption is influenced by surface area, surface charge, functional groups present on the surface, particle size, solution pH, the porosity of adsorbents, the amount of adsorbents, and contact time between the adsorbate and the adsorbent surface. Different natural and synthetic adsorbents, viz. activated carbon, bauxite, alumina, silica gel, biomass, biochar, cellulosic materials, activated carbon nanomaterial, metal organic frameworks, resins, natural and synthetic clays, zeolites, aerogels, and synthetic polymers, can be used for the extraction and removal of a variety of hazardous materials in wastewater produced by many industries and provide a cost-effective alternative method.
