Résumé fourni par la source

Plant viral infections are the greatest serious threat to agriculture’s long-term viability, resulting in enormous losses every year. New techniques that can 128 enable reliable identification of the causal agents are in high demand for the successful treatment and prevention of viral infections. Several diagnostic methods with enhanced acuteness and precision for the identification of common and unidentified plant viruses are continuously being developed, thanks to improvements in biochemical and molecular biology techniques. Currently, the most extensively used approaches for plant virus diagnostics are serological and nucleic acid (NA) assays. On the other hand, interest in creating real-time approaches that will make in-field diagnostics easier. Innovative technologies based on next-generation sequencing (NGS) have shown significant promise in detecting numerous viruses at the same time; nevertheless, such techniques are still in their early phases in plant viral disease diagnostics. This chapter addresses current advances in plant viral disease detection, determination, and diagnosis. In-field diagnostics require new portable instruments and technology that can give real-time assessments in a reasonably short period of time. It is also thoroughly described how these tools and procedures are now being developed and used in plant virology, as well as any potential drawbacks.
