Acute Ischemic Stroke in COVID-19 Patients

The appearance and spread of the extremely infectious new coronavirus illness (COVID19) have sparked the century’s biggest public health issue. Acute ischemic stroke (AIS) has developed as a consequence of the condition, in addition to being a main respiratory disorder. While current research suggests that COVID-19 may induce ischemic stroke, particularly in severe cases, complications for severe illness COVID-19 and ischemic stroke are comparable, highlighting the complicated link between the two disorders. The epidemic has made acute stroke care more difficult. COVID-19 has hampered the rapid evaluation and time-sensitive therapies necessary for optimal results in acute stroke care owing to the necessity for disease transmission prevention measures. The purpose of this study is to examine the possible causes of ischemic stroke in COVID-19 patients, as well as the clinical characteristics of those who have an ischemic stroke. In addition, we review current care recommendations and assess the challenges of AIS treatment in the context of COVID-19.
