Résumé fourni par la source

ABSTRACT This study investigated the deoxidation performance of metallurgical silicon carbide (SIKA MET) compared to high-purity ferrosilicon75 (FeSi75HP) during tapping using thermodynamic simulations. Additionally, the impact of their silica formation on the subsequent desulfurization process was analyzed. Two types of thermodynamic simulations were conducted using Factsage Software: one for deoxidation study and the other for desulfurization study. The results revealed that both SIKA MET and FeSi75HP exhibited similar deoxidation rates, with the closest parity for 3kg per ton of steel. Nevertheless, SIKA MET demonstrated to possibly have a higher Si activity due to its carbon interaction with Si, following the silicon assimilation comparison and carbon concentration in the hot metal. Additionally, SIKA MET exhibited a pronounced carburizing effect on steel composition, making it a potential replacement for carburizers with low impurities. In terms of desulfurization, both agents showed virtually identical characteristics, with similar sulfur concentrations and calcium oxide activities across different agent quantities. The study suggests that SIKA MET could be a cost-saving alternative to FeSi75HP for deoxidation in steel production via the EAF route.
