Industrial waste is the contamination of the ecosystem by companies, specifically manufacturing plants, which dump waste stuff into the air and sea.Emissions from industrial waste are the main source of environmental pollution. The main intention of the research is to study the impact of industrial pollution on the emission of gases over a period of time in Manali, Chennai. This research also examines empirically if industrial emissions have created an impact on certain environmental factors.A total of 10 parameters have been considered in this research.Gases selected in this research are ammonia, nitric oxide, nitrogen oxides, nitrogen dioxide, and sulfur dioxide. The environmental factors considered in this study are Relative Humidity, Wind speed, wind direction, Solar Radiation, and Temperature. This research adopts only secondary data.Data has been collected for the period between 2013 and 2017.A Pearson correlation test was applied to the data collected. It was observed that there has been consistently an increase in the volume of emission of the gases ammonia and nitric oxide over the period between 2013 and 2017.Further relative humidity has also been impacted by the industrial pollution caused at Manali, Chennai. All the other factors were not significantly affected by industrial pollution. RESEARCH BACKGROUNDChennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu is one of the major cities of India. It is considered a central and industriousharbor city with its vicinity to the Bay of Bengal. In addition to trade and shipping, the chemical and petrochemical industry, medical care, and industrial context build the groundwork of the financial and as well commercial base for Chennai. Many industrial sites have come up in the region in the last twenty years, which are particularly situated near the coastline. The more the city developed industrially, the more it is exposed to hazardous emissions of various chemical compounds, and ammonia emission is one such chemical compound.Industrial waste, in general, is considered to be the major contributor to the worldwide affluence problem, which is threatening both people and the ecosystem as a whole. The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has created a Comprehensive Environmental Pollution Index (CEPI).The basic purpose of this system is to figure out contaminated industrial clusters so as to take concentrated action and to centrally monitor them to enhance the existing position of their ecological components for example air, ecological damage, and as well visual environmental conditions.Manali Industrial Campus is surrounded by the Buckingham canal. This industrialized area lies on the coast, which inhibits excessive differences in seasonal temperature (CPCB, 2020).Some major industrial units in the Manali area have as well set up Continuous Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Station (CAAQMS) in their sites in order to assess the level of contaminants in the atmosphere.Chennai is strongly influenced by the chemical-based industry and Manali Industrial Complex is considered to be one of the major Petrochemical Centres in the region.Chennai Climate Action Group (CCAG, 2020), has reported the Ennore-Manali region as a polluted area and it emitted 59% (215.35days) of the strong pollution in 2019.The study
