HCC, a form of liver cancer, represents a substantial global health challenge.Nearly 1 million individuals are diagnosed worldwide, and this number is expected to double within the next 2 decades.[1] Despite ongoing efforts to enhance HCC surveillance, the disease is typically asymptomatic.As such, ~70% of patients with HCC are diagnosed in the advanced stages of Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer C and D, where therapeutic options are limited.[2] Orthotopic liver transplantation is potentially curative for HCC.[3] In modern practice, United Network for Organ Sharing guidelines draw the line for transplant candidacy at Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer Stage A.
