Videonystagmograph to go – basic features
Le résumé fourni par la source
Introduction In the following presentation a videonystagmograph like device, based on smartphone functions is presented. The author of the article has named it "Videonystagmograph to go" VNGTG. A study was performed to compare the clinical use of the VNGTG with the current diagnostic tools. The VNGTG is a topic of the dissertation work of the author of the presentation. Materials and Methods The hardware design of the VNGTG was original and made by 3D printer from FDA approved material. The software was custom made by a world leading IT company (app producer). The main functions are: video recording, screen mirroring and most advanced is the 3D presentation of the head position and movement in real time. A study was performed to compare the VNGTG with the current diagnostic tools – Frenzel goggles and conventional videonystagmograph. This study was approved by the local ethic committee and each patient signs an informed consent prior the test.Three groups of patients were observed: Healthy volunteers (10 patients); BPPV (5 patients); Vestibular neuritis (5 patients). Results The results were observed in a table concerning the possible value of the method, flexibility, expertise and documentation value and telemedicine possibility. Briefly the overall results show that the VNGTG has the same diagnostic possibilities, compared to the conventional diagnostic tools and in addition to that the VNGTG has unique feature. Discussion The 3D documentation of the head position during the neurotological examination, the bedside tests flexibility and complex examinations test, as well as incomparable telemedical possibilities make the VNGTG the tool of choice.
