Paul Williams recognizes that psychosis is an attempt to prevent a repetition of earlier trauma. He describes D under the influence of ‘Beta’ objects producing emotional violence and cruel pathological containment. The psychic result is isolation and primitive communication that emerged as a part of shared communication while D oscillated between sadistic punishment and sexualized excitement. His therapy became a conflicted triangle of D, the therapist, and an invasive ‘no body.’
