Evliya Çelebi, the famous traveler of the Ottoman period, spent more than half a century of his life traveling. He published the information he obtained from his observations, impressions and observations during these travels in ten volumes under the name Seyahatnâme. This work provides information about the social, cultural and economic areas of the 17th century Ottoman geography, which is not available in the official records and sources of the state. In other words, the work is a valuable source about the history and architecture of Anatolia, the Balkans, the Caucasus and the Arabian Peninsula, as well as the social structure, commercial relations, cultural level, political structure, the importance of the place he traveled in terms of urbanism and general characteristics. In addition to providing detailed information about the cities he visited and saw, Evliya Çelebi, due to his close relations with the state officials, provides information not found in other sources about the private lives of the sultan, viziers and pashas of the period and the political issues they were involved in.Kayseri is one of the cities that the traveler visited in Anatolia. The city stands out among the important places that Evliya Çelebi visited and provided remarkable information in terms of urbanism. Kayseri has been one of the most important centers of Anatolia with its rich commercial, cultural and educational institutions throughout history. In this study, we will examine the situation of the city in the 17th century through the eyes of Evliya Çelebi in terms of space, and we will discuss the history, architecture, neighborhoods, geography of the city in Seyahatnâme.
