Le résumé fourni par la source

Lignin, one of the most abundant biopolymer and generally considered as a resource to be exploited, can be recognized as a material with great prospects for the future. Considering not only its abundance and renewable origin, but also its chemical properties, it can be used in a wide range of formulations and, consequently, inapplications. Among the possible materials developed in recent years, lignin-based composites and nanocomposites have gained special relevance due to its polymer benign environmental properties and widespread availability. Thus, lignin valorization offers the possibility to obtain innovative bio-based composites, replacing less sustainable polymers derived from traditional synthetics petrochemicals with this emerging biomaterial. In this chapter, first, a brief introduction will be made, summarizing the properties of lignin along with its main extraction and modification methods. Considering lignin as the central axis, two types of composite materials will be studied, those in which lignin is the fundamental component of the matrix and those in which lignin is part of the nanofiller used to form nanocomposites. Thus, the main methods of synthesis of polymeric composites based on lignin with different fillers will be analyzed, as well as the synthetic routes for obtaining nanolignin and the subsequent formation of nanocomposites. Finally, the different applications described to date for lignin-based composites and nanocomposites will be briefly presented.
