Indonesia is targeting 23% of renewable energy sharing by 2025.To achieve this, solar energy has a substantial potential compared to other sources in Indonesia.Solar energy is a renewable energy without carbon dioxide release during operation.Dye Sensitized Solar Cell (DSSC) is developed due to its low manufacturing cost and can produce electricity under low irradiation.In this study, DSSC cell performance is analyzed through an equivalent circuit model and mathematical equation using Gamry Echem Analyst, Matlab, and Microsoft Excel.The model is verified and validated with literature and previous experimental data to determine its parameters and physical phenomenon.Using the formulated model, the type of dye and dye's adsorbed concentration variations are simulated to determine the cell's efficiency.The simulation shows that type of dye and dye's adsorbed concentration affect cell efficiency.Synthetic dye results in higher cell efficiency compared to natural dye.Adsorbed dye concentration of 0.10 mmol/cm3 to 0.16 mmol/cm3 shows increase on cell efficiency.Furthermore, the simulated cell is compared to the literature's ideal cell.To increase the efficiency of the simulated cell, it is proposed to use a dye with carboxylate, hydroxyl, and thiocyanate groups, add tert-butyl pyridine additive to the electrolyte solution, and immerse cell in a high-concentration dye solution for more than 8 hours.
