Infrastructures, often understood as concrete connective systems that engender a networked world, are also the webs of relations produced by these systems. This chapter considers aspects of relations that obtain across infrastructures, like their encouragement or disruption of harmony or coordination, or conversely, of disorder or conflict. How are relationships or structures of dependency formed? This chapter examines how small dependencies can lead to further entrenchment of infrastructure and the role of coordination in building widespread trade or political networks. Simultaneously, coordinated abandonment, in political or religious modes (or both), can re-signify or reinscribe landscapes with new cosmologies. Additionally, infrastructures can be challenged by individuals and factions, like all structures, and can be dis-assembled or overturned. Finally, they need not be entirely inanimate or cultural, having aspects of natural systems. These human and non-human systems of parts and relations are dynamic entities that leave legible marks on the landscape.
