An Insight Into the Application of Nanotechnology in Biomedical Sciences

The advancements in the molecular sciences have been a driving force for the search of unconventional nanomaterials to be used in Biomedical applications. Nanobiotechnology has proved its potential for the development of specialized materials for targeted drug and gene delivery, diagnosis, regenerative medicine, bioimaging, biosensing, tissue engineering, and implants. Nanomaterials are capable of integrating well into biomedical devices since the majority of the biological systems are also nanosized. The integration of nanotechnology and medical sciences offers a range of properties that offer nanomaterials as a robust, highly sensitive, cost-effective approach for further exploration in various fields. The present chapter offers a basic understanding of emerging nano-structured materials in biomedical sciences eliciting the possible usage and further avenues in research.
