Agroforestry systems (AFS's) can play a key role in nutrient cycling asthey combine aspects of soil conservation and system production.Thus, the objective of this research was to compare the AFS with a forest fragment (FF), evaluating the litter stock as well as its nutritional quality.For litter collection, a 25x25 cm metallic gabarite was used.The material collected was dried at 60 °C until constant weight, to determine the stock, and then ground in a mill and subjected to sulfuric digestion to quantify the nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P) and potassium (K) contents.In addition, gravimetric moisture and soil temperature were determined.The AFS area favored higher total levels of P and K, while in FF higher levels of N were quantified.However, for the litter stock there was no difference between the areas.In addition, in FF, higher humidity was observed inthe litter and lower temperature in the soil.AFS's can favor the nutritional contentsand litter stock of the site, becoming an alternative for land use in areas of fragmented Atlantic Forest.
