This chapter summarizes the primary goals of this book, including: 1) defining neuropsychology, 2) how to determine whether the career is a good fit, 3) reviewing similar, complementary careers, 4) describing what neuropsychologists do in different settings, 5) reviewing the kinds of populations with whom neuropsychologists work, 6) outlining how one becomes a neuropsychologist, and 7) identifying potential challenges with this career. It ends with some final thoughts about trends we may expect to see in the specialty of clinical neuropsychology in the future, such as advances in telepsychology, an increasing focus on diversity, medical advances, a shift towards prevention and brain health, and advocating for title protection in neuropsychology.
