In this paper, MSC. Marc software was applied to establish fine finite element models of vehicle and bridge considering material nonlinearity, geometric nonlinearity, contact nonlinearity and material rate effect. Numerical simulation of the collision process between vehicle and bridge was conducted based on the FE model. The dynamic response of the bridge in the process of vehicle impact was obtained by dynamic time history analysis, and the damage state of the pier was determined by the distribution of stress and strain of the pier. The results show that although the equivalent impact force exceeds the value specified in the Chinese code, the service performance is rarely affected when 49t six-axis vehicle hitting against the pier at 60km/h. The influence of impact parameters, i.e., vehicle weight, impact speed and impact angle and other parameters on impact force was analyzed, and the collision forces in parameter analysis cases were compared with domestic and international standards. The results show that: both peak impact force and equivalent impact force approximately linearly increase with the increase of impact velocity; both peak impact force and equivalent impact force increase with the increase of impact mass; the peak impact force and the equivalent impact force calculated at 10° and 20° are similar, while the calculated results at 30° are significantly less than aforementioned conditions.
