Le résumé fourni par la source
Randomization refers to the process of randomly assigning study subjects to different treatment groups, with the goal of achieving baseline comparability within those tested. This is important because it ensures that study groups contain subjects with similar characteristics; thus preventing selection bias and protecting against accidental bias. Additionally, it allows for the spread of features to be analogous to a random sample from the population. If a study lacks randomization, the experimental and control groups may not be comparable to each other or to the general population, limiting both internal and external validity. This chapter focuses on defining randomization and comparing the different types of fixed and adaptive randomization techniques. It also draws attention to the implications of randomization and provides examples on how to go about randomization based on the study question and subject group.
