Quality studies in some promising genotypes/varieties of mung bean

A field experiment was conducted during Kharif-2020 at Oilseed Research Farm, C.S. Azad University of Agriculture and Technology, Kanpur to study the quality of certain promising genotypes/varieties of mung bean (Vigna radita). The treatment consisted of 15 promising varieties/genotypes of mung bean (2 varieties and 13 genotypes) grown under uniform condition in CRD design with three replications. Results revealed that maximum protein content of 23.82% in dhal was obtained in genotype KM-2432 while methionine content of 1.53 g/16g N was also found maximum in genotype KM-2432. Mung bean variety K-851 recorded significantly higher tryptophan content of 0.86 g/16gN than the other varieties/genotypes of mung bean. Highest dhal recovery and lowest husk percentage was recorded in genotype KM-2428. The mung bean genotype KM-2431 has lower loss of processing (8.45%). The grain yield of mung bean was significantly highest in genotype KM-2432 (14 q/ha) as compared to rest.
