Le résumé fourni par la source

Golf performance has been typically explored from the viewpoint of the performer without cognisance of those who interact with the golfer. The golfer-caddy relationship, because of its uniqueness and the potential for the caddy to influence the golfer’s performance, is worthy of investigation. There is a necessity for a systematic exploratory approach to understanding how caddies facilitate the psychological performance of golfers. The practical role of the caddy is generally well defined but there is a significant gap in our understanding of how the caddy can facilitate the golfer psychologically. Qualitative design is suitable because it allows us to study the ways individuals make sense of and understand their world (Brocki & Weardon, 2006). Six Irish PGA professional golfers were recruited for the study. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with the participants to identify the ways in which a caddy facilitates a golfer’s psychological performance. An interpretational analysis of the data revealed a model demonstrating the ways in which caddies facilitate golfer’s psychological performance.
