The thesis offers a solution for one of the most controversial issues in antitrust law – the marketing of sports broadcasting rights. While scientific clarity has so far been considered »unattainable« and the definition of guidelines »impossible«, the thesis takes up this challenge. It analyses all antitrust issues and their interplay legally and economically, taking into account 18 jurisdictions, including Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, the UK and the US. It comes to the conclusion that the antitrust issues differ from what has been assumed so far and that there is a danger of a fallacy. Against this background, the thesis develops a proposal for a block exemption regulation.
