Résumé fourni par la source

Thrombotic microangiopathy (TMA) is a systemic disorder characterized by either thrombotic or nonthrombotic microvascular lesions, leading to microangiopathic hemolytic anemia, thrombocytopenia, and ischemic organ involvement.1 Atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome is characterized by a deficient regulation and therefore an hyperactivation of the alternative pathway of the complement leading to endothelial injury.1,2 More than 50% of patients with atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome have a proved mutation in the alternative pathway of the complement regulatory genes or other noncomplement related genes.
