EVALUATION DU STATUT VACCINAL DES CAS D'INFECTIONS A HEAMOPHILUS INFLUENZAE TYPE B (HIB) DANS LE DEPARTEMENT DE PEDIATRIE DU CHU-GABRIEL TOURE, BAMAKO, MALI

Our study aimed to evaluate the immunization status of children with Hib in the Department of Pediatrics Gabriel Toure Hospital from January 2009 to December 2010, after the introduction of the Hib vaccine in the EPI in Mali. The average age of the patients was 9 months (6 days -72 months). 60.9% of patients had less than 1 year. The analysis of the assessment of vaccination status of cases of Hib, shows decreased coverage in these children (about 32 % of these children had not received any dose Hib vaccine and 15.9 % of children had received incomplete doses of Hib vaccine. The most frequent types of infections from Hib were neuro-meningeal and bacteremia. The mortality rate was 24.6 % and the rate of neurologic sequelae was 7.2 %. The deaths were minimal among children fully and properly vaccinated. Keywords: Infections Haemophilus influenzae b Vaccine Hib - Bamako.
