As the vital importance of systems increases every day, so does the number of targeted attacks, internal fraud and other security threats also increases. So it is essential to protect the systems from various attacks. A bit of leniency in implementing protection may leads into significant consequences. As the technology gets smarter, companies are increasingly using enterprise-wide networks and virtual private networks (VPNs) to connect their systems, which also increases their network exposure. Finally, companies can invest in some significant security measures and gradually lose faith in conventional methods of preventing viruses and malware. The most critical payback respondents expect from the managed security company is improved efficiency in operation. With this intention, this paper proposes a layered approach to security for power grid systems. It will help in tracking the security of operations across multiple facets. This paper will provide an insight into the aspects of power grid systems security.
