In this work I present the most accurate prediction to date for the observable energy-energy correlation in perturbative QCD. Then I proceed with describing two detailed analyses aimed at extracting the value of the strong coupling from data measured in electron-positron collisions using energy-energy correlation and jet rates. Finally, I discuss progress made in the perturbative calculation of QCD cross sections.
