This scientific review, pursuing the objective of analysis, considers the legal and the methodological aspects of the topicality of organizing a separate addiction medicine service and setting up a separate clinical specialty of a medical doctor – addiction psychiatrist. We elucidate the problematic aspects of its legislative regulation and provide substantiation for the topicality of introducing a federal law that would regulate all forms and types of activity in the course of providing medical care to individuals suffering from addiction disorders.
