Taphonomie, signification paléobiogéographique, paléoécologique et paléoclimatique des faunes de microvertébrés supérieur de la grotte du Boquete de Zafarraya

Thaphonomy, palaeobiogeographical, palaeoecological and palaeoclimatical signification of the upper pleistocene microvertebrates of the Boquete de Zfarraya cave. The various study methods of microvertebrate concentration (representation, fragmentation and abrasion of the anatomical elements) applied to the microvertebrates bone remainsfound in the sediments of the cave show that this accumulation corresponds to a coprocoenosis originating probably from a small carnivore (a musteline in all likelihood) . The hypothesis of this accumulation having been brought by various predators (particulary Grand duc) is also possible. Microvertebrates are indicative of diverse environments (mosaic like) characterized by alternating wooded zones and more or less humid open spaces. The great majority of these species are found today in the surroundings of the cave. This fauna therefore shows that the climate was without a doubt mid-to supra- Mediterranean, probably not much different from the present climate. Some variations of the environment reflected in the sediments may be related to climatic oscillation of low amplitude.
