Le résumé fourni par la source

The cover picture shows the silhouette of the father of coordination chemistry, and 1913 Chemistry Nobel Laureate, Alfred Werner (1866–1919). The silhouette features the single-crystal X-ray structure of Δ-(–)589-tris(ethylenediamine)cobalt(III) iodide monohydrate, which represents the final crystallographic missing link in Werner's historic resolution of Δ/Λ-tris(ethylenediamine)cobalt(III). Single-crystal X-ray structures for the aforementioned racemic mixture with different outer-sphere anions, several diastereomers involving both the Δ– and Λ–complex cations, and the Δ enantiomer as an iodide coordination compound are known. However, even after 107 years since the original resolution, the crystal structure of the Λ–enantiomer has remained elusive. Details on the crystal structure of this single enantiomer, Δ-(–)589-tris(ethylenediamine)cobalt(III) iodide, and its historical implication are discussed in the article by John P. Lee, Gregory J. Grant and Bruce C. Noll on page 1011. This cover picture has been published under the terms of the CC BY-SA 3.0 License.
