LHC Status and Outlook to the HL-LHC

The CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is in its final year of Run 2. The 2-year long shutdown (LS2) will start in 2019 during which the LHC injector Upgrade (LIU) project will be deployed, the first step towards the High Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC) that will be fully deployed during the long shutdown 3 (LS3) in 2024 and 2025. This contribution gives an overview of the present status of the LHC and will provide a brief and non-exhaustive outlook on the HL-LHC.
