Cloud computing usance among SMEs: Comparative analysis of China and Nigeria

Cloud computing is an emerging technology in recent years and has been very beneficial to Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs). However, not many SMEs have adopted this technology to explore the opportunity therein. This paper discusses the potential benefits, level of adoption and usance of cloud computing among SMEs in China and Nigeria. The paper went further to identify the margin that exists between the level of adoption of the two countries and also point out some of the challenges peculiar to each country that prevent the full adoption of cloud computing among SMEs and finally make suggestions on how the Nigerian SMEs can improve their enterprise using the cloud computing. In addition, the paper provides evidence-based intervention for cloud service providers, the private sector and the government to improve the adoption of cloud computing among SMEs to ultimately drive the enterprises for the potential economic benefit.
