Purpose: Contemporary information about long-term prognosis of “real world” patients with stable coronary artery disease is limited (sCAD). This study aimed to assess long-term survival of patients with sCAD and to identify clinical predictors of cardiovascular and overall mortality. Methods: The CICCOR registry (“Chronic ischaemic heart disease in Cordoba”) is a prospective, monocentric, cohort study. From February 1st, 2000 to January 31st, 2004, all consecutive patients with sCAD who attended two outpatient cardiology clinics in a city in the South of Spain were included and prospectively followed. Associations of baseline variables with long-term cardiovascular and all cause death were investigated. Results: The study sample included 1268 patients (mean age 68±10 years, 73% male). After up to 17 years of follow-up (median 11 years, IQR 4–15 years, only 2 patients lost in follow-up, with a total of 12612 patients-years of observation), 629 patients died (50%, 4.99%/year). Probability of survival was 92%, 80%, 67%, 56% and 45% at 3, 6, 9, 12 and 15 years. The cause of mortality was cardiovascular in 186 patients (30%), non cardiovascular in 252 (40%), and unknown in 189 (30%). Multivariate predictors of mortality are shown in the table
